Shingles Vaccination Eligibility
Under the current programme, everyone aged 70 to 79 years is eligible for a shingles vaccine. The programme is being extended gradually, starting with those at highest risk, as recommended by the Joint Committee Vaccination Immunisation (JCVI).
Over the next 10 years, the programme will eventually include all those from 60 years of age.
Eligibility Criteria from 01/09/2023
If you’re aged 50+ and any of the following apply to you:
- You have undergone Radiotherapy in the past 12 months
- You have a recent diagnosis Lymphoproliferative disorder
- You have had an Immunosuppressive procedure in the past 6 months
- You have had Immunosuppressive drug treatment in the past 6 months
- You have a recent unresolved persisting immunosuppression diagnosis
- You have a Haematological Malignancy
- You have Graft versus Host Disease
- You have had DMARDS drugs in the past 6 months
- You have had an Autograft Stem Cell transplant in the past 6 months
- You have had an Allograft Stem Cell transplant in the past 2 years
- You have had Radiotherapy treatment in the past 6 months
- You have a recent unresolved persisting immunosuppression diagnosis
- You are HIV Positive
- You have AIDS
Patients who are 65 years old
This includes people who have turned or will be turning 65 between 01/09/2023 – 31/08/2024. If you turned 65 before 1 September 2023, you will be eligible for the shingles vaccine when you turn 70.
Everyone between the ages of 70 – 80 years
This includes people who have turned or will be turning 70 between 01/09/2023 – 31/08/2024
